Robe, commemoration of Chinese Gold Seekers landing at the Port. Ships Captains were to be charged 10 pound per Chinese when landing in Melbourne. So ships Captains sailed on to Robe where no charge applied. When discharged they faced an approximate 140 mile walk to the gold fields at Ballarat, Bendigo and surrounds.
